The LA fire… it was a distant burn, flickering on my screen. I’m not from there, have never walked those streets. Yet, the images seared themselves into my mind: that hungry orange, the smoke-choked sky. So, I painted. A circle, consuming itself in flames. Not just fire, but the feeling – the dread, the helplessness. It's a fireball, yes, but it's also a mirror, reflecting a world in crisis. I pictured a lone helicopter, a tiny, brave machine against the inferno, a symbol of hope against the overwhelming power. And it made me think about community. Not just in LA, but the global community, how we’re all linked, like branches on a single, burning tree. We see the devastation, the broken lives, and something ignites within us. A need to connect, to offer a lifeline across the miles. My canvas can’t extinguish the flames, but it can be a voice. A reminder that even in the face of such destruction, we're not powerless.
